Who are we and what are we about?
Here at UPC Community Church when it comes to understanding everything about ‘who’ God is or what it means to ‘believe’ in God, we recognize that we don’t have all the answers. What is important is that ‘we’ celebrate the diversity of faith and religion, culture and connection.
UPC embraces belief, peace, love, trust and we ‘lean’ into the idea that faith in God leads us to be more human, more loving and more caring towards each other.
We invite you to join in this community as we follow Jesus, hoping to create something beautiful in this world, through Love.
At UPC we embrace:
-
Community: Building strong relationships of support, encouragement, care, laughter and love.
-
Spiritual Practices: Our worship services help us to define who we are as followers of Jesus. Each worship service is a spiritual practice. We are then encouraged to live out the spiritual practices of hospitality, justice, generosity, prayer and kindness among all those we meet in our day to day lives.
-
The Bible: We interpret the Bible using the themes found in Bible as a whole. More importantly, the Bible comes alive for us when we see it in the context of the life and ministry of Jesus.
-
Our Inclusive Stance: God loves all people — no exceptions. Whether your faith is weak or strong, whether you are a ‘believer’, a ‘non-believer’, a seeker — none of that matters to us. We just believe God loves you. Whether you are ‘straight’ or ‘gay’ — none of that matters to us. We just believe God loves you. Whether you define as ‘male’ or ‘female’ or ‘transgendered’ — none of that matters to us. We just believe God loves you. Whether you are old or young, rich or poor — none of that matters to us. We just believe God loves you. Whether you are in the majority or in the minority — none of that matters to us. We just believe God loves you. And we believe that we are called to love one another.
At UPC we embrace a strong sense of community in lots of ways:
